The latest technology has analyzed why West Ham's first-half goal stood against Arsenal in the Premier League on December 28, 2023.

BeInSports claimed a technology revealed the ball was totally in with conclusive proof. The technology showed the ball was still on the line before Bowen sent it back.

The technology showed that the silver on the ball, which is not thicker than the width of the finger, was hanging over the line.

Question marks were raised on whether the ball was in or out when Jarrod Bowen kicked the ball back to Soucek for the first goal of the match.

The VAR couldn't draw a conclusion about whether the ball was still in play or not. The referee's decision was given due to the fact it was an ongoing match.

However, there had been different debates about the subject matter among various sports pundits.

Arsenal fans were furious after the referee failed to rule out Tomas Soucek's goal, with many of them comparing West Ham's first-half goal to Newcastle's Anthony Gordon goal against Arsenal.

Those two football clubs had reduced Arsenal to their third loss of the season in the Premier League.

The Arsenal side, who were on top in the league before the match against West Ham on December 28, 2023, had been pushed to fourth place on the table.

Manchester City are above the Gunners with a game in hand. If the Arsenal players don't show consistency, they are likely to be out of the title race before the end of the 2023–24 season.

What Mikel Arteta Said After the First Goal Stood

The Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, showed the highest level of furiousness, but it was limited, with the manager choosing his words carefully to avoid another sanction from the England FA.

Arteta said, "I haven't seen it; the only thing the officials said was that the image was not conclusive."

"It's just a shame that the technology that we have is not that clear that we can say it's out of play. It's done, it's gone, and there's nothing we can do about it now.

"So what we have to do is, without that, win the game, and with the situations we had today, we had more than enough."

What's Next for Arsenal in the Premier League Ahead of 2024?

The Gunners go against Fulham on December 30, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. It is a must-win for the Mikel Arteta men.

The other football clubs in the top four are extremely consistent and wouldn't drop a single point for Arsenal to go beyond them.

In order to end up with the Premier League title at the end of the season, Arsenal needs to win the remaining game of the season.
