Trouble looms as Ayra Starr shakes hands with King Sunny Ade instead of kneeling to greet him
Singer Ayra Starr got tongues wagging over the way she greeted King Sunny Ade at an event. Nigerians weren't so pleased with the young singer stretching forth her hands to greet the legendary Sunny Ade. Many opined that she should have knelt to pay respects to the elderly man whose name has been ingrained in the minds of music enthusiasts.
She was labeled as a proud and uncultured lady for not knowing how to greet her elders despite being raised by her grandmother.
Ayra Starr is a 21-year-old Beninese-born Nigerian singer and songwriter. She obtained a degree in International relations and political science at Les Cours Sonou University. She used to upload covers of popular songs to her Instagram and one day, she uploaded an original song that went viral and caught the attention of Mavin's boss, Don Jazzy. From there, Don Jazzy signed her to the Mavins Record and she has been doing great ever since. She is the mastermind behind songs like Rush, Ngozi, Bloody Samaritan, No Love, Rhythm & Blues, etc.
