Wayne Rooney has named Carlos Tevez as the player he most enjoyed playing with during his illustrious playing career.

Rooney reached monstrous heights in the round leather game, with his career hitting its peak at Manchester United.

Despite playing alongside several talented players including Portuguese great, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney has said that it is Tevez who complimented his playing style the most.

Rooney played alongside Carlos Tevez between 2007 and 2009 before the Argentine penned a deal with Manchester United's rivals Manchester City.

The Red Devils won the Premier League title in the two seasons Tevez spent at the club and he also won the UEFA Champions League in 2008 and the League Cup in 2009.

Speaking in an interview, Wayne Rooney expressed that he “loved” his connection with Carlos Tevez, who currently manages Argentine club Independiente.

Rooney shared these thoughts in an interview with Sportbible when questioned about who he enjoyed playing with the most.

The Englishman said: “Tevez. I just loved our connection. The two of us up front, we complimented each other really well.

“Normally if I played with Louis Saha, Ruud van Nistelrooy, or Robin van Persie – these strikers were always the No.9 and I'd play as a No.10.”

Wayne Rooney also made it known that he and Tevez would often swap their positions on the field to cause problems for the opposition.

He said: “With Tevez, we could rotate, I'd be the No. 9, he'd take the No. 9 spot and I'd be No. 10. When we lost the ball we'd be like two bulls trying to get it back.

“As a strike partner, he was the one I enjoyed playing with the most.”

Cumulatively, Rooney netted 253 goals and provided 145 assists in 559 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions.

The former England international exited Old Trafford in 2017, returning to boyhood club Everton on a free transfer.

Wayne Rooney won several trophies during his time at Manchester United, including; 5 Premier League titles, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 FA Cup, and 3 English Football League Cups alongside 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Carlos Tevez exited the Red Devils in 2009, having joined the club on loan from West Ham United on August 10, 2007, for a loan fee of €12.7 million.

Having left Old Trafford and returned to the Hammers, Tevez proceeded to pen a deal with Manchester City for a fee of €29 million - a move that came as a shock to Manchester United fans.

The Argentine was tagged as a “traitor” for joining the Cityzens, however, you can't begrudge him as he wasn't fully signed as a player of the Red Devils.

Anyway, Carlos Tevez played for several big clubs in his career, including; Juventus, Manchester City, and boyhood club Boca Juniors.

He made 99 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 34 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions.
