Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is set to take his managerial career to Saudi Arabia following MLS and England deadlock.

After a legendary career stint with Manchester United, Rooney called time on his career but played for three more clubs - Everton, DC United, and Derby County.

He began his managerial career at Derby Country as a player manager in 2020 working alongside other elite coaches while still playing for the club.

After a storied start to life as a manager with Derby County, Wayne Rooney resigned on June 24, 2022, following the club's dwindling fortunes in the English second tier which saw the team relegated to the third-tier

A few weeks after exiting the reins at Derby County, Rooney signed up with MLS outfit DC United as manager on July 12, 2022. It was another nightmare for the English gaffer. He managed only 9 points in 14 games with DC United and agreed to end his contract after the team failed to qualify for the playoffs in two consecutive seasons.

After his DC United deadlock, Rooney was back in England. He signed for Championship side Birmingham City as new manager in October 2023.

It was another nightmare stint for the Man United legend. He lost his debut match as Birmingham City manager to Middlesbrough - a club managed by his former United and England teammate Michael Carrick.

Worst of all, Rooney could only manage only 2 wins in 15 matches. Under his watch, the Aston-based outfit dropped from 6th on the Championship table to 18th. Following a dragging dismal run, he was finally sacked on January 2, 2024,

As per Daily Mail, Rooney is still eager to return to management despite his managerial deadlock. This time, he is keen on taking up a role with a club in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia.

His decision to leave the shores of England has been linked to his nightmare stint with Derby County and Birmingham City. Also, it is unlikely he could land another job in Europe following his underwhelming records as manager.
