Happy Easter my fellow investors, this week I will be discussing about the steps to investing in the stock market, sit down and grab your popcorn .

Step 1. Understand What a Stock Really Is: A stock is not just something you buy and hope it goes up — it represents ownership in a real business. When you buy shares in a company like MTN or Dangote Cement, you are becoming a part-owner, no matter how small. That means if the company grows, makes profits, and expands, you benefit from that growth either through price appreciation or dividends.
Think of it like owning a small shop with other people. If the business is doing well, everyone shares the profit. But if the business struggles, your share also loses value. Once you truly understand this, you’ll stop chasing random stocks and start asking yourself, “Is this a business I actually believe in?” @all @Admin @Olori Uwem

Happy Easter! This is a very important first step because many people enter the stock market thinking they are just trading numbers, not realizing they are actually buying into a business. When you buy shares in companies like MTN Nigeria or Dangote Cement, you are investing in their business model, management, and future growth — not just the share price.
Once you start thinking like a business owner instead of a trader, your mindset changes. You become more patient, you focus more on fundamentals, and you stop panicking over every small price movement.
Key question every investor should ask:
If the stock market closes for 5 years, will I still be comfortable owning this business?
