Are there solar stocks on the NGX?

Millions of Nigerians are still without reliable power, and short-term outages show that access is uneven despite ambitious programs. The REA’s DARES grants and partnerships with banks like Lotus are aimed at de-risking private solar projects and expanding access, especially in underserved areas.
But these are incremental fixes, not systemic solutions. For solar or power-related investments to be truly sustainable, Nigeria needs a full mix of reforms: better grid infrastructure, stronger regulatory frameworks, stable tariffs, and maintenance culture.

Are there solar stocks on the NGX?
Yes — there are solar‑related stocks on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), though they’re not pure solar manufacturers like you’d see in more developed markets. Instead, the exposure tends to come through energy companies with renewable segments, construction & infrastructure firms involved in solar projects, and holding companies investing in power solutions.

For example:
Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc — historically linked to energy and solar installations.

Costain West Africa Plc — involved in power and infrastructure, including renewable projects.

ETC (Eterna Plc) and others sometimes touch on energy solutions in their business lines.

There isn’t a “pure play” solar manufacturer listed on NGX.
Most solar exposure on NGX is indirect — through companies that may benefit from increased renewable adoption.
