19-year-old Auwal Abdullahi was arrested for raping a 16-year-old girl in one hotel at the Nasarawo Borehole area of Jimeta on Tuesday at Adamawa.
The accused claimed he didn't rape the victim and declared they were both in a committed relationship.
It was reported that Auwal deliberately left the hotel room and invited his friends over so they could gang-rape the girl. Despite the accusations against him by the Adamawa State Police Command, Auwal stood his ground and claimed he didn't commit the crime.
He fervently insisted that he and the victim have been in a relationship for 6 months. He said he had earlier told the victim to return home after spending the night together, but she insisted that she wouldn't leave the hotel until 11 am.
However, the state's Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, and the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, have vowed to let justice prevail.
