A 42 year old woman who murdered her 3 children in New Zealand and was arrested by the police has been charged to court.
The woman has been identified as Lauren Anne Dickason who was married with 3 children whom she has killed.

This woman was charged with murder of her 3 daughters named Liane, and the twins named Maya and Karla. The first child Liane was 6 while the twins were 2 years old.

This woman is currently still on trial in the High Court in Christchurch, in New Zealand. She has admitted to killing her children but says that it was now murder.
Her defense has claimed that she is not guilty by reason of insanity.

The woman says she killed the twins first because one of them had bad behaviour. She says the first twin, Karla, had been acting really horrible to her recently and that was why she killed her.

She says Karla had been biting, hitting and scratching her and also throwing tantrums throughout the day.
She says she didn't know how to manage it and that's why she killed her first.

The 3 children were found dead in their home in Timaru which is located in New Zealand’s South Island. This incident occurred on September 16, 2021.
It was their father, Graham Dickason who discovered the dead children.

This man is a surgeon and he had only just moved alongside his wife and children all the way from Pretoria, South Africa, to start a new life with them. This was just days before the incident.

This woman, Lauren, had killed the children barely 20 minutes after her husband left home for a work event.
As seen in a video recording, she had been saying she had not been feeling normal for some months and eventually something just snapped in her.

She says the children were just jumping around the house and weren't listening to her. She then went into the garage where she saw some cable ties and thought they would work fine.

Lauren then took the three sisters to a room and used the cable ties on them. It didn't work out so she suffocated them.
She then tucked them back into bed knowing they were already dead.

She then went through the house and began to drink the medications she could find. She says she wanted to die and none of the knifes at home were sharp
She says she had been feeling so stressed and moving to New Zealand only increased the stress.

She revealed that after killing them, it felt like her “first day off” in four months.
Her husband also revealed that she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder in 2015. She had also had post-natal depression after the birth of each of their children and had been on medications for years and stopped in 2021

The defense claimed that Lauren was “very unwell” and didn’t know how serious it was until it was too late.
The trial is still on and will continue on Wednesday. It will run for about 2 more weeks.
