A 45-year-old woman known as Alimot Haruna has been arrested by the Lagos State Command for trafficking 42 children from the North into Lagos without the consent of their parents.
Alimot who was arrested on January 25, 2024, had plans to coerce the 42 children into child labour and trafficking. It was reported that three underage children, two females, and one male, were rescued by some detectives who monitored Alimot's activities. Alimot had already been declared wanted by the Kwara State Police Command before her arrest last week due to several missing children who have been linked to her. Some of these children were rescued while 11 are still missing.
Alimot provided the necessary information including the place the other children are being held hostage and the names of their parents. Consequently, the police have assured the public that all efforts to rescue the remaining children are ongoing and updates will be made available in due time.
