The suspect who has been arrested in the theft of a N55m vehicle in Abuja has claimed that he didn't steal the car, that he was in test driving it.

Recall he was arrested not too long ago after been on the run. He had taken this expensive N55m Mercedes Benz on a test drive and disappeared with the car.

The car wasn't registered so the police were on the lookout for anyone who would attempt to register the car. They later found the car in Delta state but not the suspect. After some time, they were also able to locate the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as Meshach Isinugo. He says he was test driving the car and the dealer had been in the passenger's seat beside him. He says during the test drive, the dealer went to get cash so they could buy fuel into the call but didn't return.

He says that the day after he got to Delta, he saw that the car dealer had posted his picture on the internet and called him a car thief.

Wale Abass, who is the Commissioner of Police in the state, revealed that the Co had gotten a complaint from a car dealer on the 3rd of July.

The car dealer had reported that a man came on the 30th of June under the pretense of buying the car and took it on a test drive and never came back.

They were able to find the car in a bush along Oteri Road. It was then they began to look for the suspect.

This suspect was arrested on the 6th of July for car theft. He says he got the owner’s contact from an online platform who posted the picture of the car and when he said he was interested, the person told him to come and inspect it

He then went to check the car. He claims the seller put a price of N58 million but he offered to pay N30 million the seller then told him he could test drive it to see the worth of the car.

He claims the seller gave him. the car key and sat beside him in the passenger seat.
When they got to a filling station, the seller told him to wait so he could get cash to buy fuel but didn't return for 3 hours.

He says he waited and was even already causing a queue at the filling station.
He tried his number but it was switched off and he then drove to his house at around 8pm.
