AfDB invests $520m in Agro industries in Nigeria

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has invested a sum of $520m in Agro industries in Nigeria.

The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed this huge investment with praises.

This sum is for specialized agro-processing zones and it was given by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

President Tinubu praised the president of the organization, Dr. Adewunmi Adesina. He appreciated him for further opening up the economy for investments that will in turn provide job opportunities and also reduce poverty in the country.

Tinubu had revealed that the agro-industrial project will strengthen an area of the country’s competitive advantage and he went ahead to list some other areas which are a priority and also require Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

He went ahead to advise the bank to imout funds into projects that will target women and youth empowerment.

He then appreciated Dr Adesina once again for his vision of setting up a Youth Entrepreneurship Bank in Nigeria that seeks to provide skills and other support for young Nigerians.

He then assured Jim that the FG will provide the need assistance to ensure that these projects are sustained.

Dr Adesina, the AfDB President also thanked Tinubu for the initiatives which he has taken to transform the Nigerian economy within three weeks. This has also created an appetite for investors from different parts of the world. He says the steps Tinubu has taken are the signals that investors like.


Dr Adesina said the bank will support these economic policies that the new administration in Nigeria is taking which places priority in the people in development.
