Algeria and Tunisia are seeking to become the next African nation to score 100 or more goals at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Desert Warriors are aiming to reclaim the trophy which they won in 2019 and to achieve it, they will need lots of goals.

The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, who have won the AFCON just once - 2004, are also eyeing to get their hands on the crown and will be needing goals to achieve that.

These two North African nations on many occasions are named amongst favorites to win the tournament.


Algeria have won the African Cup of Nations twice previously, winning it in 1990 and 2019.

The Algerians have drummed home about 94 goals in the tournament, while Tunisia are just one goal from hitting a century of goals at the AFCON.

It can be expected that both nations will join the 100 goals club at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, given the quality that they possess.

Algeria will be looking to make right their wrongs at the previous African Cup of Nations, where they crashed out in the group stage.

Tunisia made it to the Quarter-final but were bundled out of the showpiece by Burkina Faso, with a solitary goal from Bournemouth's Dango Ouattara.

Meanwhile, only 5 African nations are in the 100 goals club of the Africa Cup of Nations.

3 West African nations have smashed over 100 goals since the inception of the tournament, with Ghana scoring 133 goals.

The other countries from West Africa represented include; Cote D'Ivoire and Nigeria, with the former scoring 143 goals and the latter netting 137 goals thus far.

You certainly can bank on these nations to increase their tally at the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will see several stars on parade.

Egypt, who will be ably powered by Mohamed Salah, have netted the highest number of goals at the tournament (134).

Cameroon last won the African Cup of Nations in 2017, defeating Egypt 2-1 in the final.

The tournament will commence from the 13th of January 2024 to the 11th of February 2024 and it should provide a massive dose of excitement to the fans.
