Liverpool have dropped points in the Premier League title race as two costly errors by Alisson Becker saw the Reds stumble to a defeat against Arsenal.

It was the 200th meeting between the two Premier League giants with a lot of history behind the fixture. A trip to the Emirates is always not an easy fixture for Liverpool but the Reds hoped to bank on their terrific domestic run to see of the Gunners in London.

With their characteristic attacking style of play, the stage was set for an action-packed game at Emirates as both sides got off to a fiery start.

The first big chance of the game went to the Gunners in the 11th minute when David Raya initiated a quick counter attack, setting up Martinelli, who broke free of Konate before finding Bukayo Saka. The England winger just needed a good touch of the ball to beat Becker but ended up heading wide off the post.

Three minutes after the missed chance, Arsenal scored the opening goal with Bukayo Saka on target for the Gunners.

A good build-up play by the hosts saw Kai Havertz teed up for a one-on-one chance against Alisson Becker. Havertz fired straight at Becker having the ball bounced off the Brazilian goalkeeper to the path of Bukayo Saka, who slotted it into the empty net to give Arsenal the lead.

After Arsenal's lead, both sides went head-to-head on quick offensives and counter offensives. Liverpool ramped up effort to find an equaliser. The Reds committed more bodies forward pushing hard for a leveler but could not break the duck until the stoppage time of the first half.

It was a nightmare moment for the Gunners as Gabriel Magalhaes deflected off Ruben Diaz's effort into his own net to make it 1-1.

A dejected Arsenal, shocked by the scrappy leveler by the visitors, entered the second half with a new pomp of energy to return the lead.

With a good spell of possession, the Gunners pressed hard against the visitors and finally returned to the lead in the 67th minute with a bizarre goal situation. Gabriel Magalhaes had launched a long aimless ball over the top. Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker had the chance to clear the ball but misunderstood themselves leaving an on-rushing Gabriel Martinelli to roll it into an open net effortlessly.

It was one of the most bizarre moments in the game but a lucky moment for Arsenal to return to the lead.

Liverpool were on ascendancy going forward after they trailed again with the ludicrous goal. Despite a commanding presence late in the game, they could not soil the hosts' defense.

However, things still went nervy for the Gunners as they came under intense pressure from the visitors.

Arsenal were able to drag the game to extra time with their 2-1 lead. Against the run of play, Liverpool were dealt a big blow in the 90+3rd minute, no thanks to another goalkeeping error by Alison Becker.

After being fed by Kiwior, substitute Leandro Trossard broke free of Diaz and Elliot and fired a low and faint attempt on goal. Alisson was expected to make a save but ended up allowing the ball to slip through his legs into the back of the net.

The costly error was enough to hand Arsenal a 3-1 victory over the Premier League title hopefuls at the blast of the final whistle.
