Who is the owner of Oriental hotel?

There have been questions like who owns Oriental hotel lagos and speculations to who the owner may be. However, the owners of the Hotel didn't openly declare they were the owners until the aftermath of the 2020 EndSARS protest.
The real owners of the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, is WEMPCO Group. The full name is The Western Metal Products Company (WEMPCO) Group. The hotel holds 99% of the shares. After the attacks on the hotel in the EndSARS protest in 2020, the owners, WEMPCO spoke up. They condemned these actions and attacks on the hotel.

It was Mr Taiwo Alli, who is the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs of the WEMPCO Group who released a statement about this. He stated that the Lagos Oriental Hotel is owned by the WEMPCO Group and this is with the 99% shareholding they have in the hotel. He revealed that Oriental Hotel is an investment made by the WEMPCO Group in 2008.


Tinubu hotel in lagos

There have been speculations that President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was the owner of the Oriental Hotel in Lagos. This was especially after the attack on the hotel during the 2020 EndSARS protest. It was believed that he was the owner of the hotel and some other properties in Lagos.
However, President Tinubu denied the ownership of the hotel and other properties that had been linked to him in Lagos. He had revealed that he wasn't the owner but only gave room for investors to invest.

Recall the hotel was attacked during the protest because it was believed that the hotel belonged to him. It was after this incident that the real owners who are the WEMPCO Group spoke up. Other companies linked to Tinubu include The Nation newspaper, Max Radio and Television Continental.
Mr Tinubu said "Majority of those assets they claim are mine are not mine. I created an economic and recovery path for Lagos. I brought private investors, hospitality… It took several months of escalating and a great investment for those investors to take the risk"

The Lagos Oriental hotel was built in 2009. However the hotel was also renovated in 2012.


How much is a room in Oriental hotel

There are various types rooms in the Oriental Hotel and their prices vary. The hotel has 133 Guest Rooms and 9 Executive Suites. Their rooms are luxurious and all air conditioned and offer room service options and a great view.

Their Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time at the hotel is 12 noon. A 50% room charge is applicable when an individual checks out late which is up to 6pm, anything from 6pm, they will charge a 100% room charge.

Cancellations or amendments to bookings are allowed but they must be made at least 24 hours before the guest arrives.


Is Oriental hotel for sale

In 2019, the luxury hotel was allegedly up for sale. The owners put it up for sale at the cost of $250 million. However, it is not known to still be for sale anymore.
