Uniabuja is the shortened form of University of Abuja. It is a federal tertiary institution in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria. The University is located at Mohammed Maccido Road, Airport Road in Abuja. The institution was founded on the 1st of January 1988 making it 35 years. They officially began academic work in the institution 2 years after the school was founded and that was in 1990. It was in 1990 they matriculated their first set of students in the University. Uniabuja runs both Undergraduate degrees, Post graduate degrees and distance learning programs.
Uniabuja has been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Some well-known figures in Nigeria who schooled at the University of Abuja include Kanayo O Kanayo, Yemi Fawole, Rashida Bello, Osita Izunaso, Amina Abubakar and many others. the campus is a very large one consisting of 29,000 acres of land which is equivalent to 11,800 hectares. The vice chancellor of the University of Abuja is Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah.
