Anthony Martial will leave Manchester United after nine years at the club.

Joining the club from Monaco in 2015, Anthony Martial was one of the brightest prospects in Man United attack. The French footballer did live to the apex of his career hurling in 90 goals in his nine-year stint at Old Trafford.

Far from his brilliant start to life at Old Trafford, Anthony Martial is now a shadow of himself. He has been struggling to nail down a regular spot in Man United squad. Crippling injury crisis eroded what remained of his chances in Man United squad.

In Man United 1-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Premier League, Martial was subbed off in the game after he fell out with Erik ten Hag. His substitution marked exactly three years since he played the full 90 minutes for Manchester United.

This season, he has scored only one goal in 13 appearances for the club and is dropping down Erik ten Hag's attacking options.

Anthony Martial is on the last lap of his contract with Manchester United. His contract will expire in June 2024 when the season ends.

Previously, it was thought Manchester United will extend his contract alongside other prospects like Hannibal Mejbri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whose deal equally expires at the end of the season. But it now appears the 29-year-old may be finally calling it a quit on his Man United career.

There is a one-year extension clause attached to Martial's contract but Nsmnews understands the club are not ready to trigger it.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly poised to axe off some players off Man United wage books. With the signing of Rasmus Hojlund, Anthony Martial stands less chance of cementing his place in Man United starting lineup, coupled with his niggling injury issues that has always sidelined him.

According to The Athletic, Erik ten Hag is ready to part ways with Martial when his contract expires against the previous plan to trigger the one-year contract extension.

This means United will have the option of cashing in on Martial in January transfer window or risk having the player exit the club on a free transfer in June 2024.
