Antony finally ended his scoreless streak for Manchester United this season with a remarkable performance in FA Cup clash against League One side Newport County on Sunday January 28.

United comfortably dispatched Newport County at Rodney Parade to book their place in the last 8 of the FA Cup. Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for United in the 7th minute before Kobbie Mainoo doubled the lead in the 13th minute.

After conceding two quick goals, the brave minnows pulled an astonishing comeback, scoring twice to peg back United to a 2-2 draw. Morris opened the scoring for the League Two side six minutes after the half-hour. Evans nailed home the leveler two minutes into the second half.

A dragging goal drought set in after Evan's leveler before Antony came to Man United's rescue, scoring eight minutes after the hour-mark to return United to the lead.

Ramsus Hojlund wrapped up the win with a 94th-minute goal to make it 4-2 as United ran out with victory to set up a last 8 clash with either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest.

Antony made the headlines in the match after he gallantly ended his Manchester United hoodoo this season. The former Ajax winger went into the game on a barren 22-match run with no goal or assist.

Joining the club on a record £86m fee from Ajax last summer, Antony suffered heavy criticisms for his less-than-stellar second season with the Red Devils. Man United legend and pundit Gary Neville tore into the Brazilian winger for his underwhelming performances which had fallen far below the pecks for a £86m signing.

Against Newport County, Antony finally got off the mark, scoring his first goal and recording his first assist this season to silence critics.

Antony scored 4 league goals with 2 assists for Manchester United last season. His near-barren run with United this season could be linked to the club's misfiring and toothless attack.

It was a promising outing for the 25-year-old against Newport County. However, United fans will hope to see him replicate the same energy in the Premier League.
