Manchester City aren't only serving as the modern-day pacesetter for English football, but they have also been ranked as the best team in Europe for 2023.

In a list compiled by 90min, the Cityzens toppled other massive teams from across Europe, with the works of Pep Guardiola apparently being made evident.

Shockingly, some unexpected English clubs made the cut.

Xabi Alonso's Bayern Leverkusen, who have had a magnificent season in the German Bundesliga thus far made it to the list.

Real Madrid didn't make it to the top 10 power rankings for the best teams in Europe, but FC Barcelona made it.

The list is flocked largely by English teams, with a mixture of big teams and teams not as big as the others.

These teams achieved a relative level of success in 2023, with Manchester City being the most successful team in the list, having won the treble alongside the UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Napoli, who came 5th on the top 10 rankings, lifted the Serie A title in 2023, for the first time in 33 years.

Bayern Munich won their 11th league title in a row, although in dramatic fashion after Borussia Dortmund bottled the trophy from a comfortable position.

West Ham United lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023, ending a shaky season on a great note, and Inter Milan won the Coppa Italia alongside reaching the final of the Champions League.

Barcelona also lifted the Spanish La Liga title, bringing smiles to the hearts of Blaugrana faithful.

Arsenal fans will be delighted to see their team on the top 10 power rankings, given their steady rise in recent years.

Mikel Arteta is building the team back to reckoning, and they are back amongst the big guns in the Premier League.

They battled squarely last season for the league title, but ultimately lost it to Manchester City at the dying embers of the campaign.

The Gunners have high hopes for the coming years and with the plethora of players they have at their disposal, they should be able to win something significant in the coming years.

Arsenal won the Community Shield before the commencement of the campaign defeating Manchester City 1-4 on penalties, after playing out a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Anyway, away from the North London side, Pep Guardiola's City being ranked at the summit of the log definitely tells us the heights they have reached and it is an acknowledgment of how big the club has grown to be.

They are being tipped to achieve more success as the years go by, but it remains to be seen how they will transition if Guardiola exits the club in the not-so-distant future.

Teams like Manchester United and AC Milan ruled the European continent at some point, but their inability to transition at a critical phase led them to a point of dejection.
