The Champions League round of 16 matches played on Wednesday, February 21 were intense and thrilling from start to finish.

Porto hosted Premier League club Arsenal and defeated them 1-0 while Barcelona and Napoli's clash ended in a 1-1 tie.

In the end, the matches were an unforgettable Champions League experience that left fans with a sense of anticipation for the next matchup.

Porto 1-0 Arsenal

Disappointing result for Arsenal as they fall to a last-gasp defeat in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash against Porto.

Mikel Arteta's side struggled to make an impact throughout the game, failing to register a shot on target and ultimately falling to a stunning strike from Galeno in added time.

The Gunners, who scored 11 goals in their last two Premier League games, had a disappointing night in Portugal as they failed to register a shot on target for the first time in two years.

Porto should have been ahead in the first half if Galeno had not missed two sitters from close range - first hitting the post and then somehow putting an even better chance from the rebound wide.

In a thrilling last-minute twist, FC Porto delivered a stunning victory over a lackluster Arsenal team with a remarkable winning goal from Galeno, securing a crucial first-leg win in the Champions League last-16 match.

The defeat means that Arsenal will now need to turn things around in the second leg at the Emirates Stadium on March 12 to progress to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Arteta has challenged his players to prove themselves on the big stage, and they will need a strong performance at home to keep their hopes alive in the competition.

It's worth noting that it's been 14 years since Arsenal last reached the Champions League quarter-finals, and the pressure is on as they look to make a long-awaited return to the business end of the competition.

The second leg will be a must-win for Arteta's side, and they will need to show their quality and determination to overcome the deficit and continue their European campaign.

Napoli 1-1 Barcelona

In the 60th minute of the Champions League last-16 first leg, Robert Lewandowski gave Barcelona the lead against Napoli after receiving a fine pass from Pedri.

However, fifteen minutes later, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen equalized with a fine strike from inside the box, leaving the tie evenly poised.

Last year's struggling Spanish and Italian champions played a lacklustre match with both teams struggling to create scoring opportunities.

Barcelona, currently third in La Liga and eight points behind leaders Real Madrid, dominated the first half against a disorganized Napoli team that struggled to advance out of their half.

Napoli were frustrated by Barcelona's high pressing and had difficulty completing simple passes, often giving the ball away to the visitors who also lacked attacking creativity.

Barcelona had deservedly taken the lead in the 60th minute through Robert Lewandowski's 93rd Champions League goal.

The Poland striker put the Catalans ahead in the 60th minute after receiving a pass from Pedri just inside the box and he made space to fire a bullet strike into the bottom corner of the net.

On the other hand, in his first appearance for the club since December, Victor Osimhen rescued Napoli with a 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Osimhen, who had served a ban in Napoli's previous game after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty, scored the equalizer with 15 minutes left on the clock.

This was Napoli's first game since sacking head coach Walter Mazzarri and appointing Francesco Calzona, while Barcelona were playing their first Champions League knockout match in three years.

The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 at the Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic, beginning at 8 pm.
