Bayern Munich have issued a statement debunking reports linking Thomas Tuchel to Barcelona role.

Tuchel, who joined Bayern Munich as the new manager last season, was rumored to replace the soon-to-leave Barcelona manager. Amidst the report, some German outlets floated news reports that the former Chelsea is interested in the Barcelona role as he directly spoke about the club's manager Xavi Hernandez after the latter announced his decision to step down.

The reports add that Tuchel would not hesitate to exit Allianz Arena despite having a year remaining on his contract for the soon-to-be-vacant role at Camp Nou.

Reacting to reports of Tuchel's link to Barcelona, Bayern Munich issued a statement denouncing the German tactician's ready for a move to Barcelona as new manager.

The club debunked reports Tuchel mentioned Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez in his press conference or made references to his successor.

"Tuchel never spoke about Xavi and his successor, as was falsely claimed afterwards”.

“Our head coach Thomas Tuchel was asked by supporters on Sunday as part of a fan club visit about his coaching career and his previous experiences abroad at Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, and naturally provided information about this during the discussion."

“He also answered general questions from fans about Spain as a footballing country. He never spoke about Xavi Hernández and his successor, as was falsely claimed afterwards."

Since Xavi Hernandez announced his decision to step down as Barcelona manager at the end of the season, there have been speculations on who is going to succeed the Spaniard.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, including Germany national team manager Julian Nagelsmann have all been linked to the Barcelona job.

It is understood Barcelona have begun the search for Xavi's replacement but Tuchel is not likely to make the list. Thomas Tuchel joined Bayern Munich in March 2023, signing a two-year contract till 2025. He led the Bavarians to the Bundesliga title despite taking over from Julian Nagelsmann halfway into the season.

The former Chelsea manager is hoping to defend and win his second Bundesliga title with the Bavarians despite a stiff challenge from Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.
