Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, revealed he will not run in the Northern Senatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to news reports, Ayade was defeated by Adams Cecelia, who received 140 votes.

The State government, however, stated in a statement signed by Ayade's media chief, Chris Ita, that Ayade had not participated in any senatorial primary.

Ayade is a presidential candidate, according to the announcement, and will attend the APC presidential convention on June 6th.

"We take the risk of stating that the so-called parallel primary election depicted in the film was, at most, a poorly produced skit comedy shot by three people in a room."

"The sham video is a joke that has gone too far. The clowns behind it regrettably forgot to produce ballot boxes, delegates, observers, and APC panel members, thus it was a vacuous, juvenile, but futile attempt at manipulation," it stated.

The governor's office said that the result appearing on social media was the product of political outlaws seeking to disgrace him.

We want to reassure the throngs of APC members and supporters, especially in Northern Cross River, that no parallel senatorial primaries were held in the district.

The INEC and representatives from the APC's National Secretariat monitored the sole genuine and recognized senatorial primary that took place in Ogoja and was won by Martin Orim, the former Chief of Staff to the Governor, and which did not include Ayade on the ballot.

"As a result, the alleged video proposing a comparable exercise should be ignored," it stated.
