Referee Gil Manzano's decision to end the game involving Valencia and Real Madrid has evoked different reactions.

The seven minutes of additional time in the game had elapsed, with referee Manzano adding over a minute of play due to a VAR check which had taken some time in added time.

Real Madrid became gutted due to the thought that they had secured a comeback win over Valencia, with Jude Bellingham nodding home a cross from Brahim Diaz.

Unfortunately, Gil Manzano had ended the affair right as the cross was taken, with many Real Madrid players engrossed with play.

Bellingham thought he had won it late on, and after the goal was chalked off, he voiced out his anger at the decision, saying: “It’s a f*cking goal, the ball is in the air. What the f*ck is that!”

Referee Manzano wasn't pleased with what he heard and he reached for his back pocket, before handing the Englishman a red card.

Following the heated game at the Mestalla, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti defended Jude Bellingham, claiming that the 20-year-old didn't insult the referee.

Ancelotti said: “What to say, there is not much to say. Something unprecedented has happened.

“I think the game had to end when Valencia had possession. Then Bellingham's red card bothered us because he didn't insult [the referee].

“Bellingham told him 'it's a f*king goal', he didn't insult him. We will see what the referee writes in the act.

“The players are angry. We all have to calm down. We have an important game on Wednesday.”

Valencia had gone 2 goals ahead in the opening half through Hugo Duro and Roman Yaremchuk in the 27th and 30th minute respectively.

Deep into added time of the first 45, Vinicius Jr scored to halve the deficit for Los Blancos, before netting again 14 minutes before the end of regulation time to restore parity.

The decision of Referee Gil Manzano to end the game when he ended it has elicited massive reactions, with some fans gutted that he halted play while Real Madrid were on the ascendency.

There are also individuals on the side of Manzano, who feel he handled the game professionally and was right to end the game at that crucial moment.

Lawfully many might not be aggrieved with the decision of Manzano, but those who are infuriated feel he concluded the game when Real Madrid were on an attack move, which they claimed wasn't discretionarily right.

Anyway, due to the red card, Jude Bellingham is expected to miss Real Madrid's next league game against Celta Vigo on Sunday, Match 10, 2024.

He however should be in action on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, when Los Blancos battle RB Leipzig in the second leg of their 2023/24 Champions League Round of 16 affair.

Carlo Ancelotti's side remain at the summit of the La Liga table, with 66 points from 27 matches, 7 points better than 2nd-place Girona, who play against Mallorca on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
