Real Madrid are set to extend Carlo Ancelotti’s contract, which is set to end next summer.

Several reports suggested that Ancelotti was going to depart the club to become the coach of the Brazilian national team.

According source close to the report, the Spanish powerhouse have been more than pleased with Ancelotti’s technique so far this season, and the expansion is all but sealed at the time of writing.

The Italian manager has led Real Madrid in what’s been a very tough season for the 14-time European champions due to an injury crisis battling the team.

The former Paris Saint Germain coach has made sure that the team survived that injury crisis without key players like Militao, Courtois, Camavinga, Tchouameni, and Vinicius all missing extended time.

Despite the long list of injuries and worries desperately trying to destroy Real Madrid’s 2023/2024 campaign, the Spanish giant have not budged. They have only gone to higher stability with every setback, and that is the mark of a true champion team.

A big part of the credit goes to Carlo Ancelotti for developing a positive and healthy technique in the dressing room.

After all, several Real Madrid players have come out openly in recent weeks to praise the method and conformity as the reason behind their recent success.

However, Ancelotti's contract extension would mean that Real Madrid would be giving up on the possibility of hiring Xabi Alonso as their coach next summer.

Alonso has been the most impressive coach in European football so far this season and will likely leave Bayer Leverkusen if an offer from an elite club comes his way.

Ancelotti could still leave Real Madrid after signing that extension if the club suffers any kind of destructive meltdown during the second half of the season, even though that doesn’t seem likely.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said he still has much time to decide on his contract with the La Liga outfit, despite being repeatedly linked with the top job at the Brazil national team.

Ancelotti’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

Ancelotti has guided Real to second place in La Liga, two points behind surprise leaders Girona, with their swashbuckling form led by Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr.

What's next for Ancelotti?

Real Madrid will lock horns with Villarreal on Sunday evening, December 17, as they look to close the gap on Girona.

Should Ancelotti stay at Madrid beyond this season, he will be hoping to further cement himself alongside the greatest managers in the club's history by adding even more trophies to their enormous collection.
