CBN says they've distributed naira notes.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that they have distributed naira notes to commercial banks.
They mentioned how they have evacuated the notes from their vaults to banks so as to ensure ease in the circulation of naira notes in various denominations.
The CBN also gave directivesbto these banks to be opened even on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays for operation.
The spokesperson of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Isa Abdulmumin, issued a statement on Friday.
He was the one who mentioned that a substantial amount of money, had been given to the commercial banks to ensure circulation to people.
He also mentioned that these banks had been directed to load their automated teller machines (ATMs) for operations.
He also mentioned that the CBN governor who is Godwin Emefiele, would personally lead the teams that will monitor the level of compliance to this order by commercial banks.
He also encouraged people to wait patiently as the cash would be circulated soon putting an end to the scarcity of cash.
