Former Davido's signee Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola popularly known as Liya has revealed that her former label boss David Adeleke popularly known as Davido didn't pay attention to her singing career while she was signed to his label.

The 24-year old singer revealed this in a recent interview with Echo Room stating that she had to move on from Davido's label Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). Liya said, "It was more of a journey. It was time to move on. We dropped ourselves."
Liya revealed that her three-year contract wasn't even over when she left the DMW family. She wanted to start afresh and evolve from the state she was in. "It's a normal thing in life. As a person, you just want to evolve, restrategize and reintroduce yourself. There's nothing wrong with that."
The host asked, "In all honesty, would you say that the label paid much attention to your career as an artist?"
Liya replied, "No. Maybe it's the structure but I'm glad they've started afresh and are doing a great job. I'm happy for everybody."
She also spoke about how the Nigerian music industry has grown so toxic that certain narratives are pushed to create rivalry among female artists. She said the media often tries to put them against one another while pulling one down to raise the other.
Liya disclosed that she has some collaborations with female artists like Guchi and Ria Shawn which will be released in the near future but she doesn't know when due to her lack of consistency. She said she hasn't released a single for a while so it will be difficult for her to drop new music now.
Liya also spoke about collaborating with her colleague Simi on the "Adura" remix. She said it all started in the IG comment section on that fateful day.

She said, "The feature with Simi was so random. I was doing a Q & A on my story and one of Simi's positive fans was like, 'Oh you should feature Simi on the Adura remix'. We just tagged @symplysimi with a side eye emoji and she said, 'oh send it to me.' In two days, she sent her verse. I didn't see that coming.
I was happy and everybody really liked it. I dropped it in October last year. I only dropped two songs so I don't really know how to approach people."
Liya came into the Nigerian music scene when she released her first single "Melo" under Davido's record label Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).

Davido signed her in 2020 as the first female artist under his record label, introducing her as the first lady of the record label. Liya released her first EP titled "Alari" under DMW in 2021.
