The deputy governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the acting governor of Ondod state after the death of the former governor who is Rotimi Akeredolu. The swearing in of the new governor was held at the Cocoa conference hall in the governor’s office. The swearing in was administered by Justice Olusegun Odusola who is the chief judge and this happened at 5:18pm on the 27th of December 2023. Recall Governor Akeredolu died of Leukemia at 67 years old.

Lucky Aiydatiwa is a Nigerian politician and Businessman. His full name is Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. He served as the deputy governor of Ondo state from 2021 till 2023 and this was under the late governor Rotimi Akeredolu who passed away few days ago. He became the acting governor of Ondo state in 2023. He is also a former commissioner of Niger Delta Development commission. He is 58 years old. He was born on the 12th of January 1965. He is serving under the umbrella of the All progressives Congress (APC).

After swearing in, Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave his opening remark/speech. He stated “It is with a heavy heart that I accept this honourous responsibility of taking over the reins of governance and affairs of our state after the unfortunate loss and passing of our beloved governor and leader, my dear Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu” he revealed how the event placed on all of them a burden to stay together so as to maintain the legacies of the late governor Akeredolu. He revealed that they also have the responsibility to complete his legacy of good governance. He also acknowledged the achievements of the late governor while he was in office.
