Driver sentenced to prison for three months for defrauding his employer


A man who is a driver has been sentenced to 3 months in Jail for defrauding his employer. It was an Area Court in Jos who sentenced this man to 3 months jail term.

This incident happened on Friday. The court sentenced this man who has been identified as Aminu Mohammed to jail. This suspect is 44 years old.
His crimes were defrauding his employer of a sum of N600,000.

It was the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who revealed that it was the Judge who gave him that sentence. The Judge has been identified as Shawumi Bokkos. He pronounced the sentence on Mohammed after he had pleaded guilty to these crimes.

He pleaded guilty to fraud and pleaded with the court for leniency.
The Judge gave him an option of fine which is a sum of N10,000. He however ordered him to pay a sum of N500,000 back to Employer as compensation.

He revealed that failure to pay this amount to his Employer who is Mr Idris Danjuma, would lead to 6 months imprisonment for him.

Inspector Ibrahim, who is the prosecutor, revealed that this man committed this crime earlier in the year. He revealed that the case was reported by the employer on the 26th of February, 2023.

He revealed that this driver was transporting some goods from Kano to Lagos. He was supposed to remit a sum of N600,000 to his employer who is Danjuma, but he intentionally used the money for himself.

He revealed that Muhammed had confessed to the crime during interrogation and they could only recover a sum of N50,000 from him.
