Ed Sheeran wins US copyright trial

Popular British musician Ed Sheeran has won the US copyright trial.

The music star did not plagiarize a song titled “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye when he was composing his own song.
His own song “Thinking Out Loud,” was released in 2014.

The jury was the one who ruled that he didn't plagiarize this song hence he won the trial.

This happened on Thursday.

After he won, he was so happy he hugged his team who were there In the courtroom

Recall a lawsuit was filed by heirs of Gaye cowriter Ed Townsend. They had alleged that the rhythm of Ed Sheeran's song was copied from Mavin Gaye song and they claimed it was without permission.

Mavin Gaye’s heir demanded a share of the profits which were made from Ed Sheeran’s song.

Ed Sheeran had mentioned that he writes most of his songs in a day. He said he wrote this song in his home.

Recall his wife shared recently in a documentary that he had written 7 songs in 4 hours after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Ed Sheeran’s team mentioned how many songs I'm this world have a similar chord progression.

This Ed Sheeran’s song “Thinking Out Loud” was a big hit back when it was released and was topping charts.
