Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

She was released late Friday night after meeting the terms set forth by the detectives working on her case.

In a statement, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said the former Speaker will report to the agency on a regular basis to assist with further investigations.

Remember that she was detained on May 17th for a questionable financial relationship with Phil Jin Projects Limited.

According to reports, the NDDC awarded Phil Jin Projects Limited a contract for the delivery of solar-powered street lights in various Akwa Ibom villages.

Even though the contract was valued at N240 million, the company received N287 million.

Patricia Etteh was eventually given N130 million by Phil Jin Project Ltd.

The anti-graft agency is looking into why the former minister received the funds despite not being a director of the company.
