The elephant was said to be a part of a herd which escaped a conservation area located in Northen Manyara.

According to the authorities, the elephant was eating some farm crops in one of the villages where they had escaped to.

Some people in the village then approached the elephant while taking selfies. As they approached these animal, it attacked one of these men and injured him badly.

It was a regional police commissioner who gave this information. He said that the animal became agitated when these villagers approached and this lead to the attack on this man who is now battling for his life.

The injured man was taken to the hospital. He has been admitted at the Kiteto district hospital. Sources say he is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

They mentioned that contact between humans and wild animals is quite common in Tanzania. Dry seasons causes some wild animals to start to places where there are farms to look for food.
