Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned Manchester United from copying Manchester City's style of play.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe at the helm affairs in Manchester United's footballing operations, some swift changes are expected to be made in United's sporting and footballing affairs.

The 72-year-old die-hard Man United fan reiterated his commitment to eschew going after profit but fully commit to turning the fortunes of the club around.

One of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's signature moves was the signing of a former high-ranking Manchester City football chief Omar Berrada to Manchester United.

Berrada, who has been credited as the architect of the massive transformation at Manchester City from a football minnow to an English and European giant, has been tasked to blaze a similar trademark and oversee the transformation of Manchester United into a top footballing powerhouse again.

With Omar Berrada in the house, Newcastle United sports director Dan Ashworth is also closing in on joining Sir Jim Ratcliffe's newly assembled staff for the much-vaunted transformation of Manchester United.

Amidst the sweeping waves of changes set to be rolled out by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Erik ten Hag has made his feelings clear.

Speaking ahead of Manchester United's rollercoaster matchup against the cross-city rivals, Erik ten Hag insisted it is rational to learn from successful opponents but it should not be at the expense of Manchester United's ingrained football DNA.

“I think you can always learn from opponents who are successful - and you have to do that if you want to go to higher levels.

“But at the same time, we have to do it in the United way. This is a different club, with a different environment and with a different DNA," he said.

Manchester United have declined over the years from a Premier League and European giant to a middle-level English club, always struggling for silverware and qualification for European competitions.

The emergence of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the club's new co-owner has been heralded by United fans as a new dawn that will reposition the club among top-tier European and Premier League clubs.
