Erling Haaland has reportedly turned down an approach by Netflix to feature in their documentary series on the art of goalscoring.

Haaland, who is currently leading the pack in the Premier League topscorers' chart with 18 league goals, was targeted by the streaming giants for the documentary alongside other top Premier League strikers.

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins and Liverpool and Egyptian sensation Mohamed Salah were also reportedly targeted but they are yet to be contacted.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is also said to be on the radar but has not been contacted yet as well.

It is still unclear why Haaland has turned down the proposal with the decision set to be a major setback for Netflix, who will miss out on featuring the league's most brilliant striker.

Nevertheless, having Salah feature in the documentary could be a very big boost due to his pedigree and experience but it is still unclear whether they will be able to register the consent of the player.

Ollie Watkins is also set to be a doubt but no contacts have been made yet, including with Bukayo Saka.

According to analysts, Netflix's move to enlist the Premier League's top strikers could boost the profile and relevance of the players to an ever-expanding football audience. However, the said players have to be informed of how much of their commitments will be required for the documentary.

Key issues are how much access they will be required to grant Netflix, scheduled sessions, and plans for contingencies that may collide with club and national team duties.

It is believed some of the raised concerns have prompted Erling Haaland's decision to turn down the approach on hand with other targets like Salah and Watkins more likely to toe the same line in light of congested schedules that limit players' availability away from footballing action.
