Senator Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central) formally declared his defection from the ruling APC to the People's Democratic Party on Thursday.

Aliero announced his defection in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, saying his choice was influenced by his desire to fulfill the wishes of his throngs of fans distributed over the state.

Aliero is a serving member of the red chamber and a two-term governor of Kebbi State. He is also a minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The people of my constituency, Kebbi Central, and my throngs of followers from across Kebbi State have resolved to defect from the APC to the PDP due to the abuses we faced in our previous party, the legislator explained.

Those who supported the political viewpoint were duped and treated unfairly, necessitating our departure from the party to join another where they believe they will be accommodated and treated fairly.

According to him, before deciding to leave the party, he attempted to address the situation in a number of ways, including filing a complaint with the national headquarters of the party, but despite the intervention of party leaders, nothing positive came from it.

As a result, he urged all of his supporters in the Kebbi Central Senatorial District, as well as other loyalists throughout the state, to vote PDP in order to assure the party's triumph at all levels.
