Father arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his daughter
A man has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his daughter.
This man was said to have raped his daughter for 3 years.
It was the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State who made the arrest.
This man is a 41 year old father. His daughter who he assaulted is just 16 years old.
The man was paraded at the NSCDC command headquarters in Lokoja.
The commandant of the state, Ahmad Gandi, had mentioned after the parade that a complaint was lodged to the command by an NGO on the 5th of May, 2023.
He said they loved a case of defilement, rape and incest. They had discovered the victim is the daughter of the culprit.
He revealed that this had been happening for 3 years. It began in 2020 till 2023.
He revealed that the victim's younger sister had told her to either commit suicide or kill them father to be free.
The father had confessed to committing these crimes the commandant stated that they will charge him to court as soon as the investigation has been completed.
He applauded the NGO who reported the case and urged others to report such cases.
The names of both the victim and father have been withheld because of the nature of the case. They said the case is a sensitive one.
The victim revealed that this abuse began after her mum left home in 2020.
She said her father had impregnated her in 2021 but he had taken her to a clinic where they aborted the pregnancy.
She was scared to leave home because she feared her father would do this same thing to her younger sister.
She said the abuse continued and she just had to report to an NGO who reported the case to NSCDC. This was when she couldn't take it again.
The suspect said he committed the act but didn't know how he did it. He said he was begging his wife to come back home but she didn't.
They revealed that the victim had been transferred to a safe place.
