A father has demanded for the autopsy of his dead son whose intestines mysteriously disappeared during or after a surgery. This incident happened on Friday, November 24, 2023 in Lagos state. The father of the deceased child requested that the coroner who is handling the investigation into the death of his child should ensure an autopsy is carried out again. This will be the second autopsy being conducted on the dead child.

The deceased is a 12-year-old boy who passed away on the 9th of September 2023. He died after he underwent a corrective surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Mysteriously, his small intestines were reported missing. This was what led to the father demanding for a second autopsy. The District Coroner overseeing this case is Mrs Bola Folarin-Williams, and she is a chief magistrate.

The father of the boy, though his counsel, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), submitted an application at the court on Friday for request for request for second autopsy to be conducted due to the mysterious disappearance of his intestines. He revealed that the father was not satisfied with the first autopsy that had already been conducted. This was because he wasn't present so he doesn't know how the autopsy was carried out.

In the letter, They also requested that the Lagos State Government should offset the autopsy and mortuary fees since both of the parents of the deceased indigenes of Lagos State. This would mean the Lagos State Government would handle the fees for a second autopsy.
The coroner has made the decision and they have ordered an immediate and independent autopsy on the deceased 12 year old boy. The case was also adjourned further hearing to the 15th of December 2023.
