The Federal Government has reopened the Eko Bridge in zlagos State recently after many months of being shut down.

Recall the FG ordered for the closure of this bridge because of some rehabilitation work.

The bridge was closed down in March, 2022 which was 15 months ago. The bridge was closed for 15 months.

The bridge had gotten damaged due to a fire that was caused by some illegal trading being carried out under the bridge.

They closed down the bridge to motorists for their safety because the fire had weakened some parts of the bridge and this called for repairs.

It was risky for motorists to continue playing this route with these damages so the FG closed it down.

The motorists were advised to ply other routes as this was just one of the routes connecting the mainland to the Island.

The reopening of this bridge is coming as a relief to many residents of the States who ply this route.

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was there at the reopening of this bridge.

He tendered his apologies on the delay in repairing this bdruge explaining why it needed to be repaired.

He also revealed that they have carrierand they can now reopen this bridge

He then went ahead to give a seven-day ultimatum to all traders who are using the underneath of the bridge to evacuate the space.

They will be clearing any illegal structure under the bridge as time goes on
