Female secondary school students arrested for faking their own kidnap.
Two female Secondary school students have been arrested recently for faking their own kidnap.
They had faked their kidnap so as to story their parents to send money as ransom.
They were arrested by the Amotekun Corps which is a security network agency in Ondo State.
This incident happened in Oka-Akoko, Akoko South West council area in Ondo state. They have confessed to faking their kidnap and demanding ransom from their parents.
These girls are aged 15 and 13 years. The older girl who is 15 is in SS1 while the other is in JSS 3.
The girls conspired to fake their kidnap and went ahead to demand a sum of N100,000 as ransom from their parents.
They told their parents that they had been abducted. They have revealed the reason behind their crimes. They were trying to punish their mother who mistreated them and made life unbearable for them.
One of them revealed that she had brought up the idea and plan. She claimed their mother doesn't treat them like a mother should. She says she had no plans for the money but just wanted to punish her.
Chief Adetunji Adeleye, who is the state Commander of Amotekun revealed that the duo are from Oka-Akoko. They staged their own kidnap and demanded N100,000 as ransom from their parents and also the traditional ruler of their community.
During negotiation, these girls threatened the traditional ruler that if the ransom was not paid in two hours, they will kill the victims only to discover it was the girls who were behind it all.
They had been arrested in a hotel which they had been staying for 3 days.
Their parents had reported that their children had been kidnapped and they begun investigation.
They tracked the phone number that was used to call the parents and were able to make the arrest.
He revealed that the Department of State Service (DSS) fhad assisted them in making the arrest and appreciated them.
