On the 7th of August 2023, the Senate house was in an uproar when Darlington Nwokocha (Abia Central) moved a motion asking Festus Keyamo to step down as the ministerial nominee. Darling Nwokocha opined that Festus' name should be scrapped from the ministerial list nominee because of a past offense. What was the offense, you'd ask? Well, Nwokocha opined that Festus ignored the humble invitation of the National Assembly in 2020 to explain an issue of misappropriation of funds to the public.

For that reason, Nwokocha moved for the removal of Festus name and was seconded by Enyinnaya Abaribe from APGA, Abia South. While these two were in support of removing Festus name from the ministerial list, others strongly opposed the idea.

Godwill Akpabio, the Senate President was left to handle the cry of the Senators and he did. He urged everyone to calm down and explained to them how Festus Keyamo was thoroughly considered before adding his name to the Ministerial list.

In the end, Festus Keyamo apologized for his wrongdoings and his name remained on the Ministerial list. Today, he is the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria.
