Former president Ibrahim Babangida Celebrates His 82nd Birthday

A former president of Nigeria Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR has turned 82 years old. He celebrated his birthday yesterday on the 17th of August 2023.
Babangida is known popularly as IBB. He was the president of Nigeria between 1985 and 1993 when he stepped aside from being the president of Nigeria. He is a retired Nigerian Army general and statesperson.

He also served as Chairman of the Armed Forces Ruling Council and also the Chief of Army Staff.

President Tinubu who is the current president of Nigeria alongside others have sent their wishes to Babangida on the occasion of his 82nd Birthday. President Tinubu's wishes were contained in a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Aguri Ngelale.

He congratulated the former president and praised him for his contributions to the national development of Nigeria. He commended his power of influence over the years even after many years of not being in power/position.

Early life
Ibrahim Babangida was born on the 17th of August 1941 in Minna. His parents are Muhammad Babangida and Aisha Babangida.
He attended Government College Bida and was classmates with Sani Bello and many others.

He joined the Nigerian Army in December 1962. He got married to Maryam Babangida in 1969. Sadly she passed away after a battle with ovarian cancer. She died in 2009. They both had 4 children together named Aisha, Muhammad, Aminu, and Halima.

He staged a coup d'ètat against Muhammadu Buhari and rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Army. He was an unelected President and he served for 8 years before he stepped aside.
