Frankie De Jong has for the umpteenth time turned a blind eye to interests from Manchester United, claiming that Barcelona is “the club of his dreams”.

De Jong has been a target of the Red Devils for the past 4 transfer windows, including the winter transfer window.

Frankie De Jong joined Barcelona from Ajax on July 1, 2019, for a fee of €86 million.

The Dutchman has scored 16 goals and provided 21 assists in 195 appearances for the Catalan-based club across all competitions.

De Jong is known for his vision, and ability to control play in the midfield and shield the backline when the need arises.

Speaking concerning playing in a different league, particularly the Premier League, given the interests of Manchester United, Frankie De Jong said:

“Possibly. But I’m very satisfied at Barça. It's always difficult to say. For now I feel good here!”.

The Dutch midfielder has made 12 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 1 goal and providing no assist in all competitions.

According to Transfermkt, he has been valued at €80 million, and any club interested in his services would have to pay within that region to sign him.

Frankie De Jong has fallen in love with Barcelona, and it appears like he is keen on achieving more success with the club, having won the La Liga title last campaign.

Xavi Hernandez's side have had a shaky league season so far, as they sit 4th on the table, with 38 points from 18 matches.

Barcelona still have the opportunity to win all trophies on the cards this campaign, as they are still in all competitions available to them.

The Blaugrana side will face Napoli in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, and they will be aiming to progress to the next round.

Meanwhile, the Catalan-based club are keen on signing several players to bolster their squad, with Mason Greenwood said to be a primary target for the summer.

Barcelona are willing to pay his €40 million price tag and are also offering to hand him the Number 10 shirt of Lionel Messi to lure him to the club.

However, contrary reports are indicating that due to the Blaugrana's side's financially handicapped state, they wouldn't be able to go after Greenwood.

Anyway, Frankie De Jong as aforementioned has been a long-term target of Manchester United, and a shocking move to Old Trafford could see him reunite with former boss Erik Ten Hag.

De Jong blossomed under Ten Hag at Ajax, as they conquered the Dutch top-tier league and also made it to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, amongst many other heights reached.

Manchester United have a major problem in midfield, with Frankie De Jong penciled down as the man who could come in to sort out the issue.

However, Barcelona's demands have often put off the Red Devils from going for the Netherlands international, but they could be tempted to try their luck in the summer of 2023.
