Ivory Coast has rejuvenated in a favorable direction, and the Ivorian government will be hoping that hosting the Africa Cup of Nations will propel the country to even bigger heights.

13 years after witnessing the end of a civil war in the country, the nation has taken a commendable height by grandly hosting the continent.

The Ivorian government claimed that they have invested at least $1 billion into hosting the continent, having built 4 new stadiums while also renovating two others.

There have been other construction works done in the country, as regards the airports, roads, hospitals, and hotels.

These constructions were largely done or upgraded in the five cities that will stage matches, notably; Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and the capital Yamoussoukro.

Ivory Coast isn't a financially buoyant nation, and as such, they had to borrow to fund many of these projects.

Speaking regarding how these projects were funded, Prao Yao Seraphin, an Ivorian economics professor said:

“Ivory Coast is a poor country. As a result, President Ouattara has had to take out loans to finance this project, so we have to ensure the loans actually benefit the Ivory Coast. The country will have to maintain the infrastructure.”

Anyway, Ivory Coast have invested heavily into building these infrastructures due to the following likely benefits.

Building For The Future

The West African nation are building for the future, with the hope that such facilities can stand the test of time.

It isn't primarily aimed at making financial rewards, however, these stadiums were expected to be a hub for the nation aiding in the development of footballers and a haven for the nation's footballing stars.

Using Facilities Developed

Footballing authorities in the country are also hoping that the stadiums in the nation can be used by other countries, that do not have standard footballing facilities approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation International Football Association (FIFA).

Opportunity To Make Money And Become A Financially Rewarding Scheme

Since the culmination of the civil wars in 2011, Ivory Coast has experienced a decline financially.

Remember as aforementioned, facilities constructed include hotels, airports, and hospitals.

These facilities could in turn bring financial rewards and benefits in the coming years depending on how it's utilized.

Ivory Coast could experience an upward growth in the country's financial status, with facilities constructed expected to be a money spinner.

Tourism Opportunities

Stadiums in the country could be seen as tourist centers, with individuals trooping into the nation to see the beauty of such facilities.

All 4 newly constructed stadiums in the country looked beautiful, and it will attract many individuals to come into the country to see these facilities.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations commences on January 13, 2024, and it ends on February 11, 2024.
