The Ghana national team bus was attacked by the Ghanaian media due to the team's poor performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Furious members of the Ghanaian media appeared to display their displeasure with the national team after their latest result left them on the verge of elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.

What happened?

Ghana started their 2023 AFCON journey with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cape Verde and later staged a 2-2 draw with Egypt.

During Ghana's last group game against Mozambique, the Black Stars bottled a two-goal lead, allowing Mozambique to equalize in the 90th minute, conceding 2 goals in 3 minutes, thereby ending their expectations of making it to the knockout stages.

These disastrous results provoked the fans and journalists who unexpectedly showed their displeasure with the national team even calling for the dismissal of the coach and some team administrators.

After the match against Mozambique, Ghanaian media men waylaid the Black Stars team bus from departing the stadium, which later required the intervention of CAF security agents.

According to a series of videos posted by Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams, members of the media expressed their wrath at the team, demanding to speak to the players who instead headed for the team bus.

It was reported that the media men blocked the only exit out of the stadium for the Ghana team bus and that after an hour the players eventually had to walk through the media mixed zone.

However, some journalists at that point were too angry to ask questions and booed the team bus.

The videos posted by Adams showed high levels of emotion and anger from a set of people he claimed were members of the Ghanaian media.

In one of the videos he posted, he wrote: "The level of anger here among the Ghana media, I only pray these group does not ever pass the mixed zone".

Another post said; "taken it upon ourselves to sack however deserved a sack, starting with manager Chris Hughton".

In one video posted by Vanguard via their official Instagram page, an angry group were seen looking at the Ghanaian team bus, with a line of security blocking their way.

One person was heard saying: "We are waiting for them, we are waiting for them".

"We won't do anything, we just want to ask them questions".

He added, "We won't touch anybody we are just asking questions. We are asking questions as media we won't touch anybody".

A couple of members of the media are then heard shouting "Bring the players out".
