Suspended Ogun State Speaker, House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has finally broken silence following his impeachment last week.

Recall that Oluomo was replaced after 18 out of 36 members of the Ogun State House of Assembly impeached him through a legislative coup and replaced him with Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, his opponent at the last election. It was said that Oluomo was impeached for embezzlement of funds and other related crimes.

In a recent interview, Oluomo stated that he remains the Ogun State Speaker of the House of Assembly irrespective of whatever decisions were taken in his absence by other members. Oluomo revealed that he had already filed a lawsuit in the Ogun State High Court, asking them to determine whether he can be impeached through a coup. In this regard, the court will be sitting on the 7th of February, 2024.

Oluomo said he strictly believes in the rule of law. Therefore, he will allow it to take its full course and follow due process to ensure that the issue is resolved.
