Grammy Award-winning singer Tyla Laura Seethal mononymously known as Tyla, reveals that she wanted to be a mining engineer before stardom.
The 22-year-old singer shared this in an interview with BBC Radio. Tyla disclosed that she almost became a mining engineering student because her parents always wanted her to study.
Tyla said she had to ask her parents to give her a year to prove that she was destined for music. Tyla rose to stardom in 2023 after her global hit "Water" took the world by storm. Her song topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts and other music charts around the world. Tyla became a Grammy award-winning singer in 2024 after her song "Water" won the Best African Music Performance category.
