Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, has defended his qualifications as the best candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in 2023. According to Bayo Onanuga, the Tinubu

Campaign Organisation's Director of Media and Communication, his achievements as governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 qualified him to be the party's flagbearer.

Tinubu appeared before the APC's screening committee on Monday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja to defend his presidential ambition in front of a committee led by John Oyegun, the party's former national chairman.

He (Tinubu) confidently told the panel why he is qualified to fly the flag of APC as its presidential candidate, Onanuga said in the statement.

He cited his success as governor of Lagos State, where he increased the state's internal revenue generation from a meager N600 million per month to N51 billion today.

In his answers, Tinubu demonstrated a broad understanding of economic management and a thorough understanding of Nigeria's political economy.

Tinubu is also said to have mentioned Enron's invitation to start the country's first state-backed power generation project, as well as how Nigeria would need to treat power transmission lines like highways.

The APC National Leader was questioned about his upbringing, as well as his educational and professional background.

During the screening process, Tinubu impressed the panel with the way he answered and provided insight into many of the questions asked.

Onanuga stated, "The screening committee expressed satisfaction with Tinubu's knowledge of the economy and socio-political issues affecting the country."
