INEC National Commissioners hold meeting over Adamawa Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Commissioners held a meeting over the Adamawa polls.

Mr Festus Okoye who is the INEC National Commissioner, has revealed that the commission will release a statement regarding the meeting soon.

This meeting consisted of all the National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The meeting was held on Monday, April 17, 2023.
It was a closed door meeting in Abuja at the national headquarters of the commission.

The meeting was about the supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State recently.

Recall the supplementary elections were held on the 15rh of April 2023 which was last Saturday.

This meeting took place after they had directed the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the State, in person of Hudu Yunusa Ari, to stay away from all activities relating to the elections in the state

Thus man (REC) had caused issues when he pronounced Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the elections over the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of PDP.

He had summoned him to Abuja after the announcement and they declared his announcement to be invalid.

We learnt that the returning officer for the Adamawa governorship election, was not present when the REC made this announcement of the winner of the elections in the state.
He is the rightful official to declare such.
