The Dangote Refinery is an oil refinery owned by Alhaji Aliko Dangote that was inaugurated on the 22nd of May 202 in Lekki, Nigeria. When in full operation, it is expected to have the capacity to process about 650,000 barrels per day of crude oil, making it the largest single-train refinery in the world. The Dangote Refinery first came into the limelight when the major shareholder of the Dangote group of companies Alhaji Aliko Dangote announced his interest in refining crude oil by building a Refinery which is set to commence 16th September 2013 at an estimated cost of $19 billion USD. Unfortunately, the project never started not until 2016 and was eventually commissioned 22nd of May 2023.

The refinery covering over 2,500 hectares of land In the Lekki free trade zone, Lagos state, Nigeria will be supplied crude oil through an underground pipeline. The Pipeline Infrastructure at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is the largest anywhere in the world, with 1,100 kilometers to handle 3 Billion Standard Cubic feet of gas per day. The Refinery alone has a 435MW Power Plant that is able to meet the total power requirement of Ibadan Disco. The refinery presently have over 30,000 workers cutting across all over the world and it’s expected to provide job opportunity for not less than 135, 000 individuals by the time it’s fully functional.
