It is not compulsory to have a church wedding or serve food on your wedding day, Apostle Okai schools his church members

A Pastor identified as Apostle Abeiku Okai was seen teaching his church members about wedding ceremonies. He said that planning a church wedding is neither compulsory nor biblical. Church weddings aren't ordained by God but by man. We see it as a culture and a necessity but it isn't compulsory. Therefore, those who cannot afford a church wedding should stick to the traditional way of doing weddings because that is the most valid.

He added that the man can simply go to his inlaws' house to ask for their daughter's hand in marriage. After they have accepted him, he can then deliver whatever he was asked to purchase to the bride's family. Okai said that it isn't a must to plan an elaborate wedding because one should learn to cut one's coat according to one's size. He told his church members that serving food is also not compulsory if the couple cannot afford it.

He said, "Church wedding isn't ordained by God. It was ordained by man. That's because we have understood it, we have accepted it and we have made it a part of our culture as Christians. If you don't have money, nobody is forcing you. Go home and see the woman's family. Talk to your father as a woman. Let the man come and do something small. What your money can provide, and what the family can accept."
