Professor Wole Soyinka released a statement instructing Davido not to apologize to the Northerners.

Recall that sometime last week, Davido promoted Logos Olori's music video titled "Jaye Lo," and Muslims frowned upon it, especially the Arewa community. Amidst the chaos and threats, Davido deleted the video from his page, and many commended him for choosing peace. Well, every other person has moved past that except the Northerners. They insist on getting an official apology from Davido for promoting the "Jaye Lo" video.

Yesterday, videos of the Northerners burning Davido's Infinix banner surfaced on the internet, and up till now, they have banned all radio stations from playing Davido's song on their channel. Here is a link to the video of men in Maiduguri burning Davido's Infinix banner.

Obviously, the Northerners have taken this too far despite the video being deleted. Sensing the bitterness with these people, Professor Wole Soyinka released a statement saying Davido shouldn't apologize. He said Shehu Sabi is wrong for demanding an apology on behalf of the Muslim community.

Woke Soyinka sighted a similar example of the derogatory statement El Rufai, a former Governor of Kaduna State, made about Christianity. He made mention of another example of a bank manager that was condemned after he likened the rise of Christ to a risen bakery dough. Soyinka said the manager apologized to the Christians, but he rebuked him for doing that. For the same reason, Prof. Wole believes Davido owes the Northerners no apology.

Since this is slowly becoming a war between people of different faiths, netizens are thankful Wole Soyinka addressed the issue. Some are even making jest of the Northerners for not knowing the correct pronunciation of Davido's name because the commentator in the video above kept repeating "Debido" instead of "Davido."
