Jose Mourinho has taken a dig at Tottenham Hotspur and the club chairman, disclosing that Spurs are the only former club in his career where he doesn’t have a deep feeling.

The AS Roma head coach made the comments in a press conference before their Europa League final against Sevilla next week, where Mourinho is hoping to secure back-to-back European victory after winning the inaugural Europa Conference League last season.

During his interview, the 60-year-old included Inter Milan, Chelsea, FC Porto, Manchester United, and Real Madrid as other clubs with whom he still feels a connection but said Spurs were the exception.

According to the Portugal International, the London club side are the only former team he has no real relationship with.

Mourinho told reporters on Thursday, 25th of May, he said; “I hope my words are not misinterpreted, but the only club in my career I don’t still have a deep feeling for is Tottenham.

“Perhaps because during the period I coached the club the stadium was empty due to Covid and because President Daniel Levy did not give me much”.

“In all other clubs, there has always been a solid bond because people are not stupid. It’s not about winning or losing”.

He added, “Fans understand that I fight for them every day. In my case, I am Romanista, Madridista, and Interista and it’s a mutual thing. I will forever be tied to Roma and the other clubs I’ve coached”.

Tottenham hired Jose Mourinho after the club sacked former head coach, Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019.

During his 17-month stay in north London from November 2019 to April 2021, the mysterious Portuguese strategist played many games behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mourinho led Tottenham to the Carabao Cup final but he was fired by the club’s board in April 2021, just days before the final against Manchester City.

Spurs ultimately lost 1-0 to Pep Guardiola’s City with temporary manager Ryan Mason at the helm.
